The PDO thread lift is a new method of suspending the tissues of the face, using 100% absorbable threads made of polydioxanone (PDO) which promise, beyond the lift (shielding of the tissues), biostimulation for the production of collagen, through the healing process around them.

Indications for this type of procedure are: facial sagging, jawline contour, neck sagging, drooping eyebrows, facial folds (nasolabial and marionette lines), perioral and periorbital wrinkles.

What does the PDO lift consist of?

Performed under local anaesthesia in a medical office, the needles/cannulas are introduced under the skin and leave the thread in place. In the case of traction (COG) threads, the removal of the cannula is accompanied by the traction of the tissues.

The whole treatment lasts around 30–40 minutes. Immediately afterwards small bruises may be seen at the anaesthesia points, but these can be covered with make-up within 24 hours. With traction threads the result is instant, but in cases of greater accumulation of skin in the lift it can take around 15 days for the tissues to settle completely. Where the aim is an improvement in skin quality, the effect can generally be noticed after 2 months.

The results last close to 12 months, even though the threads are absorbed in around 4 to 6 months; the fibrosis generated around each thread will still maintain the result obtained.
